Meet at Cranbrook Alliance Church – 8AM – parking lot
High clearance vehicles such as 4×4 trucks with good tires are recommended
Distance: 10 kms return
Cumulative elevation gain: 680m
Approximate hiking time: 6 hours
Trails: Mixed – stream crossings, steep scree slopes, can have muddy sections. Footwear with good traction is essential. I would recommend hiking boots.
The trail to Tanglefoot Lake is a moderately difficult hike that traverses creek crossings, avalanche paths and flower filled alpine meadows. Climbing the scree slope to Tanglefoot Pass will take your breath away before you make the quick descent to the ice cold waters below. Lunch at the lake will be a welcome break before making your way up and over the pass and back to the trail head.
