Who cares?
I know that you do. The question is sometimes “How can we care without being overwhelmed by the need?” Jesus said his burden is light: “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
So how do we care well without over-doing it? We do so, in part, by being aware of our gifts and doing what we can rather than becoming anxious about what we cannot do. Please consider this an invitation to sign-up for a Shepherds’ Table event on Sunday, June 5th where we have a dialogue about care ministry. Many acts of compassion and crisis care happen, and we don’t need to oversee or organize them. However, we also receive requests and observe needs from time that we want to respond well to. This will be the goal of this conversation.
Refreshments will be provided, there will be a brief presentation and an opportunity for feedback about how you care to be involved. We will close with a time of prayer. Please sign-up below so we know how many to prepare for.
