The Apostle Paul emphasized prayer as the way to winning spiritual encounters. Most of what we call spiritual warfare does not happen in the context of casting out demons, but in the intensity of everyday life: when you’re tempted to lose it with a family member or someone at work; when you’re tempted to be lazy about taking time to pray; when you’re tempted to be lazy at work; when you’re tempted to take something that isn’t yours; when you’re tempted to say something about someone else that will damage their reputation; when you’re tempted to take that drug to forget reality; when you’re tempted to linger and stare at the wrong section of the magazine stand. God led the Apostle Paul to inform the church that the enemy isn’t people, not atheists, bad government, other religions, and not even bad drivers, but a spiritual foe—the devil. Today’s teaching is from Ephesians 6:18-20.
